Not finding the Asset Blacklist in the Phoenix menu isn't a bug ...

Hi Eddi,

The derender feature in Phoenix & Firestorm work differently for the moment.
The block list on Firestorm is the same as your Mute list on Phoenix, its not the same as the Phoenix Asset Blacklist. Firestorm doesnt have the Asset Blacklist feature added yet.
Firestorm derender works the same way as it did in the older versions of Phoenix. Derendered objects arnt added to a blacklist. To re render something in Firestorm, you just have to change your group tag.
The Asset Blacklist will be added at a later date.

Renaming issue to be more clear

In my opinion this is an important feature. In a room full of avatars with a lot of flexies and/or details you need to be able to de-render worn objects, or have your FPS drop to 5...

Also handy when playing Simball and other players insist on wearing their 500 prim flexy hair.

Agreed this is necessary, it's also important for people who have to function on any part of the mainland due to the large amount of garbage in the sky and ad signs etc that needs to be derendered to make things tolerable doing it every time you change group tag is more than excessive.

It would be great to see this in firestorm as well. Persistent deer seeing was one of the great Phoenix features

Re derendering. Having had a bad experience in the past with a 3rd party viewer I vowed never to use one again! Only came to Phoenix a week ago because someone told me about the derendering feature and I had a large object overshadowing my sky meadow. I love Phoenix! And I love Firestorm even more. All the advantages of the latest SL viewer without the clunky interface. BUT can't use it-no permanent derender. PLEASE developers-make it your next feature!

Thanks for the reply and the appreciation of my name Whirly Fizzle (think your name is great too). Both myself and SL were heavily into our Tolkien phases at the time (mine never diminishes of course) tho Elborath came out of my head. There is an Elbereth I later found out in a song in the Hobbit.

I would love to see this too. It really helps when trying to do finish work on a build, as well as hiding objects and not muting their owner.

We should have this already! It's an important tool for dealing with lag and griefers for heaven sake!

I've got a deserted club next door, with many flashy lights and particle emitters and sploders.
In Phoenix I blacklisted most of their objects, except the landscaping, and feel like I have a huge yard now
I'm loving some of the features of the Firestorm release and just want the permanent blacklist back, with the ability to import my old blacklist (Which I successfully saved before realizing there was nothing to import it to).

GREAT new release but still no permanent derender feature--PLEASE guys was the reason I moved over to Phoenix in the first place. I've had to buy a skydome and it just don't have the same free feeling as SL sky...

Please Add this!!! I used Phoenix and LOVE that feature of it as a required necessity for derendering a LOT of extraneous peoples, VERY high prim/sculpty/flashy for places that I visit but do not want to stop visiting! Plus, if you are NOT in the mood for seeing, say, VERY annoying things like SNOW EMITTERS that come out this time of year to overload the graphics capability of some graphics cards, I so so so NEED THIS!

I would like to see this feature, as well. There are some avatars that have symbols appear through every object, and it can be very annoying trying to re-derender them over and over, whenever they relog. This is the one thing that kept me with Phoenix for so long. I want the ability to permanently derender back.

There IS a permanent derender. I right clicked on my ALT, selected derender, and he became a cloud. Problem is, I haven't been able to see him since. I have tried everything, and no materr which machine I log him in on, which machine I log myself in on, or which viewer I use, my main char acter canno longer see my ALT. Is there a way to un-do this?

Patrick, is this on Phoenix? That shouldnt happen on Firestorm. If your alt always looks like a cloud to you, rather then derendered (invisible), then while logged in on your alt, make a new folder in inventory. In this folder place a skin, a shape, a bald hairbase & eyes. Then right click this folder & replace outfit. If you are still having problems, then please file a support request issue here & we can help you further.

Might be a long shot, but I suggest to unmute that alt...

I originally derendered him in Firestorm, and couldn't see him in Firestorm or Phoenix. Also, I could find an asset blacklist in Firestorm. I did find my alt in the MUTE list, and when I unmuted him, all was fine again. I beat you to it Raymond, but you were right. Thanks!

Nah, you’ve never derendered it, according to your description. You just thought so: »I right clicked on my ALT, selected derender, and he became a cloud.« You selected »Mute«. Otherwise it wouldn’t have become a cloud. See Prefs -> Firestorm -> General -> Render blocked avatars as particle cloud. Btw: There is no asset blacklist in Firestorm yet.

No, I selected derender. I know I selected derender originally, because I wanted to see what it would do. However, I may have selected MUTE in the process of trying to fix it (obviously I did somewhere along the line).

Hi there. Yes even i`m missing the permanent derender option. A great plus would be, to have a land-option to derender all objects on a parcle - forever - that could be set to rerender by owner swap. I dont get it why it`s not a standard feature. Sometimes i`m annoyed by others and others by my builds. Go for and great work so far.

Symen, your request is already sort of covered by FIRE-571, if I got you right.

Re-opening this issue: Needs further investigation as the version from NaCl might have licensing issues.

If the code remains it will need to be troubleshot. Derendered objects aren't added to the blacklist.

Yes, so you can temporary derender stuff. If you would like to permanent derender stuff, use the blacklist option.

This seems overly and unnecessarily complicated. There must be a way to add an object to the blacklist when it is derendered, as is the process in Phoenix and the expected behavior for Firestorm.

I assume it would be feasible in this context to touch the related FIRE-571 and FIRE-879 as well.

There is a way to add it to the blacklist: Pie menu has a special blacklist submenu where you can select what to blacklist: Object, textures or sculpt.

I like this new behaviour actually.
Right click on something & choose either derender for the old FS derender behaviour or choose blacklist to derender permanantly with the blacklist.
I can see why there are concerns it will be confusing for users though. But we already have confusion. On Phoenix, Ive lost count of how many times we see people panicing because they derendered their boyfriend/dog/house etc & dont know how to get it back.
Firestorm users are already used to the "derender" option being non permanant. Changing the behaviour of derender now to instead blacklist would I think cause even more confusion.
Id like to see a modal dialog pop up though, the first time someone chooses to Blacklist (with a "do not show me this message again" option) that explained this was permanant derender & telling th user where to find the asset blacklist in the menus. It could also have a clickable link to a wiki page explaining the new derender/blacklist behaviour.

Maybe a rename of the options would help?
Derender -> Temp derender
Blacklist -> Permanant derender / derender + blacklist / persistant derender

Why not name it "Persistent derender that puts stuff on the blacklist so it doesn't show up again until you explicitly remove it from the blacklist and teleport forth, wait until the objects in memory gets destroyed and then teleport back"? Should fit into a pie slice, don't you think?

Come on Firestorm has been out for such a long time and the basic things are not working, Derender is not permanent, what are you people doing????????????????????

• when you need to mute an resident you cant derend this last permanantly, you need to derend always after all relog. Its not very usual.

request of more it could be very nice if you can add a style of popup, "do you want to derend this resident or object in same time" cause some time you mute the resident by radar list.

Like i said in the group, and on the new FIRE-5760 i think it could be very usual to add "Derender" in the context menu of the "PEOPLE - NEARBY" panel, cause you can see Block, Report but you cant see Derender ..

i think its not mendatored to see the resident in front of you to use the derend function, if you have blocked this last.

other idea, to day .. it could be very nice to add an code to auto/derender and mutting all won object of the derended resident.
