      Description

      When in Pheonix 1.23.xxx

if you Right click and then scroll the mouse wheel your view is zoomed , Good for Snipeing etc
unright click and you get nornal view
Right click it goes back to last zoom level , can be used to zoom in or out.

      When in Firestorm 2.4.2 14918

Right click and scroll , and leave mouselook - the right button, it does nothing !

Minor issue , but all those gun nuts ( and others ) in SL might miss it !

A lot of the People who use Guns and Bows rely on this feature for targeting Far off Objects.
it is also a Valuable tool for Script writers and developers of weapons and Targeting Sights for testing their adjustments
          Please Bring this feature back

I am concerned with the Priority being considered Minor here since it is actually crucial to many medieval sims that at least at times if not frequently do role play through combat that requires targeting and meters. Even the many medieval players that do not do any combat often show up as engaged onlookers and thus the usage and usefulness of Firestorm will diminish significantly if this major feature does not get added to the Firestorm Viewer.

I see people refer to 2.4.2 version with Right-click and scroll, still I have 2.5.2 16922 beta and I can zoom while being in mouselook by using Ctrl+ numbers 8 (zoom out), 9(default zoom) and 0(zoom in). Dont know if that helps.

You are, correctly, thinking of the "Standard" zoom feature that LL has provided since at least the v1.8 days, if not since the beginning of the client. This feature from the v1.5.x branch (and previous versions) of Phoenix, and some of the later versions of the predecessor clients. The feature works in the following manner.

          1) Enter Mouselook by any method.
          2) Hold down the Right Mouse Button (RMB), and keep held.
          3) While holding the RMB, scroll up using the scroll wheel to zoom inwards, and down to zoom out.
          4) Once the desired zoom level has been achieved, you may release the RMB.
          5) Upon depressing the RMB once again after release, the camera snaps back to the previous level of zoom set during steps 3 and 4.

The client retains this zoom setting between restarts of the client, presumably within the settings_phoenix.xml file, allowing the Mouselook+RMB combo to instantly restore the zoom level after logging back into the grid.

Hopefully this clears up what we are referring to, Daysleeper!

You didnt have to go into all that trouble explaining the feature, since I've been a combat player for quite sometime and I know how scrolling into mouselook helped zooming in v.1x! I simply wanted to give an alternative (if people didnt know) till the Phoenix team fixes/brings back this feature!!

Yeah but the zoom wiht Ctrl+8,9 it is not helpfull as it used to be the zoom with the scroll of the wheel of the mouse and the right click. I hope you can add it again in firestorm.
