      Description

i have a national home center TV in SL and since downloading 48807 i have had trouble geting media to play on the afore mentioned TV i tried alll the possible trouble shooting etc etc to no avail then today i decided to try the webkit menu selection which turns it into an inworld computer and everything works as it should eg you can get youtube etc and it works perfectly so maybe it might be the item itself needs reworking to be able to work on this viewer or similar with the same coding. The TV works as it should in 4.7.5

          Heya Bigwalter,

Is it just flash media which is failing to play on the NHC TV?
If you are watching YouTube videos via the "webkit menu selection" which sounds like it's just turning the TV into media on a prim, then on CEF viewers, Youtube videos will be using HTML 5 rather then flash.
The actual YouTube section of the TV may very well still be using flash media though (the creator really should update this to use HTLM 5 too).

On CEF viewers, you need to make sure you have the correct Flash plugin installed:

Here are the steps needed to have working Flash media on a clean Windows system which does not have Flash installed.
You will need different versions of the Flash plugin for the CEF based and the older Webkit based viewers.
The order you install the Flash plugins does not matter.

Installing Flash plugins for CEF/Firestorm 4.7.6

          • Using Firefox web browser, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
          • Choose the correct operating system under Step 1.
          • Choose FP 20 for Opera & Chromium - PPAPI under Step 2.
          • Install Flash.
          • Make sure that "Enable Plugins" is ticked under viewer Preferences -> Setup -> Enable Plugins.
          • You need to restart the viewer if logged in while installing Flash.

Installing Flash plugins for older Webkit based viewers/Firestorm 4.7.5

          • Using Firefox web browser, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
          • Choose the correct operating system under Step 1.
          • Choose FP 20 for Firefox - NPAPI under Step 2.
          • Install Flash.
          • Make sure that "Enable Plugins" is ticked under viewer Preferences -> Setup -> Enable Plugins.
          • You need to restart the viewer if logged in while installing Flash.

Verified this works on Windows 7 64bit.

Finally found the issue seems like the creator of the NHC Tv's needs to update his program so that it will work on CEF. Brought another TV and it worked perfectly so looks like i wasted my time should have tried that in the first place maybe but as they say thats life

I'm not sure - this may be a bug.
CEF should support quicktime & flash media & the NHS TV is certainly not playing a lot of content on the CEF viewers but works fine with webkit.
I suspect the problem may be https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-11008

Okay so after some poking at the NHC TV, it's technically a bug, but it's a "bug" with Chromium, not the viewer.
Google marked this bug as a WONTFIX because allowing redirects from http to data uri is a security risk.
The only solution is for the creator of the NHC TV to update it to not redirect http to data uri.

Here is the Google Chromium bug report: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=64092

I filed a LL JIRA issue with all the details here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-11485
This will get closed as wont fix, it's just filed for information purposes.
