Unicode Implementation is Inconsistent Across OSes

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Open
    • Priority: Major
    • Resolution: Unresolved
    • Affects Version/s: Phoenix Firestorm 5.0.7

      Firestorm Release

Implementation of Unicode Characters for Windows, Linux and OSX versions of the Firestorm viewer are inconsistent. Characters which show in one version do not show in other other versions en-mass.

Various character sets which appear in Windows version of Firestorm do not show at all in OSX or Linux versions of the viewer, making for a wholly inconsistent "shared experience" using the Unicode standard.

      Unicode Test Parameters

An in-development project named ONYX uses Unicode characters as part of the menu system for added accessibility through visual means. Icons/Glyphs in use are Typically Unicode 7 or lower standard which is a set from 2010.

In Windows 10 Firestorm viewers, the entire menu shows fine. Windows 7 has a few missing icons, while Linux and OSX seem to be missing the most - reverting to behavior commonly seen in the Default viewer and other 3rd party viewers for Unicode support (very little support).
