    • Reported In:
      Firestorm 4.3.0.30391 QA

      Description

on Viewer release 4.2.1, typing on teh inventory search box would expand all folders that contained items matching the search argument. This seems to not be the case anymore on 4.3.0 (30391). The Folders that contain the search items are still shown, but they are no longer autoexpanded, which can be a real nuisance when looking at many folders and you want to be able to find the item at a glance.

      To reproduce:

      Open up the inventory window
search for any string that you know will return multiple items
Look at the search results and you will see that the folders are no longer expanded automatically.

Can't reproduce - Doesn't seem to be an issue in Firestorm 4.3.0 (30445)
All folders open as expected containing items of the search string.

Im seeing mixed results here actually. Sometimes folders open and other times not.

Also seems to depend on search term length.
I have a lot of items with the word Pravda in the name in folders (The folder names also have Pravda in the name).
If I search for Pr the Pravda folders wont open, if I search for Pra the folders will open.
System folders always appear to open though, even with a 1 letter search term

          Tested on Firestorm 4.3.0 (30514) Sep 23 2012 17:12:17 (Firestorm-Fizzlefire)

Those of you that see a definite behaviour change, does Viewer 3 behave the same way as Firestorm?

Im unable to say if behaviour has changed here or not. Ive always had erratic results with folders opening.

Liny confirms that he sees a behaviour change on 4.3 and that only some folders open when all should open.

I can confirm this as well. It seems to happen only to hits in folders that are placed under (not in, that I know) the Trash folder.
In effect, non system made folders, and specifically those that lie in the root of the folder structure.

I can confirm only when the keywords in the search bar don't match any single item in the inventory. If you're able to match a character or character string with the name of an item in your inventory, the folders expand and remain open.

Example: You type in AE, but there are no items that have AE close together. Thus, the inventory folder closes. If you type in About, and you have an item or several that have that particular string in their names, the folders will remain open.

It usually fails, but occasionally does open. I'll comment again if I find any rule.

I'm usually finding folders alternately auto-expend and whole-hierarchy-close as I type each letter of my Search. This is weird and I'm not sure why it's not being reported by others?

I just upgraded to 4.4 from an earlier version and have the same problem. This will not do at all; I will need to go back to an earlier version (if I can find one).

Pamela, you can get all old version from http://code.google.com/p/phoenixviewer/downloads/list?can=1&q=&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+ReleaseDate+Size+DownloadCount

However, they will all be broken in a couple of weeks once LL rollout the server baking changes. The only Firestorm viewer that will work is the current release and later.

QA note: Check for possible side effect - folders all open but scrolling down insta-snaps back to the selected item
